Wrought Iron Swinging Gates

The majority of automated gates around the country will be swinging gates. Always popular with customers, gates made from wrought iron offer a diverse range of styles and designs both traditional and contemporary. Wrought iron gates are simple to maintain, as a well made gate will resist the elements very well. The gates will usually be operated with a ‘single hit’ option, whereby the gate opens at the touch of a button on the remote control, and closes automatically behind you.

The correct size hinges are chosen for each application to suit the weight of the gates and the amount of use they are likely to receive. We prefer, if possible, to hinge the gates from steel support posts, concreted into the ground to carry the weight of each gate. If the posts are in view, the will have the same finish as the gates, or alternatively, they can be installed in such a way that allows a brick pillar to be built around the steelwork. The gates then take their strength from the steels posts and do not rely on the pillar to carry the weight of the gate.

It is worthwhile to consider the layout of your property before choosing a swinging gate. As well as the amount of space required for the gates to open, ground levels are an important factor to consider. For the best results, ground should be level or falling away form the underside of the gate.
