Wooden Sliding Gates
If you are looking for something special, or to complement the immediate surroundings, the natural appearance of wooden gates can make a beautiful addition to your home. Many people prefer the look of wooden gates, as their natural look and rugged strength helps create a unique and personal set of gates. Wooden sliding gates not only look great, but are an ideal solution for properties with restricted parking space or where the driveway slopes, preventing swing gates from opening. Wooden sliding gates can meet several other criteria, including increased privacy and enhanced security, while being less vulnerable to wind loading situations.
All of our wooden gates are manufactured to the highest standard by skilled craftsmen, using traditional construction methods. We use mortice and tenon joints, right through wedge dowelled and fixed with boat building glue, while ensuring every gate is bespoke and built to your specifications. Our gates are 70mm thick, with a steel reinforced bottom rail to spread the load of an underground motor the full length of the gate.
There are traditional and contemporary styles available, or contact us to discuss a particular custom design you would like. Our wooden gates are mainly made from utile – an African hardwood which is naturally durable and stable, but other species of hardwood are available, including European Oak and others.
We always include 2 – 3 coats of a good quality finish stain, such as Sikkens or Sadolin to both sides of the gate panel in a choice of colours. It is also possible to apply an oil finish such as Danish or Teak oil, if this is preferred. If you require an aged look to your wooden gates, we can provide this special finish on request.
Automation is our specialty and there are a wide range of options, including electro-mechanical or hydraulic systems, plus motors that can be installed underground. We also supply and fit a range of access controls – from remote controls to keypads – enabling you to open and close your gates at your convenience.
